BROWSER AUDIO MIXER

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

DATA COLLECTION SUMMARY

Browser Audio Mixer collects the minimum data necessary to function. Here is a quick summary:

  • Audio settings (EQ, volume, effects) — stored locally on your device only
  • User presets — stored locally on your device only
  • Remote Control data (Room ID, DJ Name, Password, audio parameters) — sent to server only when you opt in and manually connect

No analytics, no tracking, no personal information collected. Remote features require explicit user consent before any data is transmitted.

1. OVERVIEW

Browser Audio Mixer ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension developed by Eleven Bass Lab that applies real-time audio processing to your browser's microphone input. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, stored, and shared (or not shared). By using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. DATA WE COLLECT

A. Data stored locally on your device:

  • Audio processing settings (EQ values, effect parameters, gain levels)
  • User-defined presets
  • Control mode preferences (e.g., Remote PA mode on/off)
  • Privacy and consent preferences

This data is stored using the Chrome local storage API and never leaves your device.

B. Data sent to our remote server (opt-in only):

When you explicitly enable the Remote Control feature and connect to a room, the following data is transmitted to our server (dj-stream-server.onrender.com) via HTTPS:

  • Room ID — identifier for the remote control session
  • DJ Name — display name you choose
  • Room Password — used for room authentication
  • Audio settings — EQ, volume, and effect parameters for remote sync

This data is sent only when you actively connect to a remote room. No data is sent in Local or Talk mode. You can disable this feature entirely via Offline Mode in the extension's Settings page.

3. DATA WE DO NOT COLLECT

The Extension does not collect, store, transmit, or process any of the following:

  • Personal or identifying information (name, email, IP address, device ID)
  • Audio data or recordings of any kind
  • Browsing history, visited URLs, or tab content
  • Health, financial, or authentication credentials
  • User-generated content (messages, emails, documents, etc.)
  • Location data
  • Usage analytics or telemetry

4. HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

The audio settings data stored locally on your device is used exclusively for the following purpose:

  • Restoring your previous audio settings when you reopen the Extension
  • Recalling saved presets you have created
  • Maintaining your preferred control mode between sessions

No data is used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond the direct functionality of the Extension.

5. DATA STORAGE & RETENTION

All settings data is stored locally on your device using the Chrome local storage API. This data:

  • Local settings data is never transmitted to any external server (except when Remote Control is explicitly enabled — see Section 7)
  • Persists until you uninstall the Extension, use the "Reset All Data" button in Settings, or manually clear the data
  • Can be deleted at any time by uninstalling the Extension or clearing Chrome's extension storage via Chrome settings

The developer retains no copies of your data. Once you uninstall the Extension, all stored settings are permanently removed from your device.

6. DATA SHARING & THIRD PARTIES

We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your data to any third party, including but not limited to:

  • Advertising networks
  • Analytics providers
  • Data brokers
  • Other developers or companies

The Extension does not integrate any third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs. No data is shared with or accessible by any party other than the user on whose device the Extension is installed.

7. REMOTE CONTROL MODE

When you explicitly enable Remote Control mode and connect to a room, audio setting parameters are transmitted via HTTPS to our server (dj-stream-server.onrender.com). Please note:

  • No audio data itself is ever transmitted — only numeric parameter values (EQ, volume, effects), Room ID, DJ Name, and Room Password
  • This mode is strictly opt-in and requires a deliberate manual connection action by the user
  • A first-launch consent dialog is shown before any remote features can be used
  • You can disable Remote Control at any time via the extension's Settings page ("Allow Remote Control" toggle or "Offline Mode")
  • Remote room data is temporary and deleted when the room is closed or expires on the server
  • All communication uses HTTPS encryption

8. RECORDING FEATURE

The built-in Recording feature allows users to save their own processed audio locally in WebM or WAV format. The recorded file is saved directly to the user's own download folder on their device. Audio data is never transmitted to, collected by, or accessible to the developer. This is a purely local, user-controlled feature. The developer has no access to any audio recorded using this feature.

9. PERMISSIONS

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely for its stated purpose:

  • storageTo save and restore user preferences and presets across sessions on the local device only.
  • tabsTo detect the active tab and inject audio processing scripts into pages where the microphone is used. Tab content is not read or stored.
  • scriptingTo inject the Web Audio API processing engine into web pages for real-time audio enhancement.
  • host_permissions (specific sites)The Extension only requests access to specific supported platforms (Spatial.io, Zoom, Discord, X/Twitter) where real-time audio processing is applied. No page content, cookies, or user data are accessed through this permission.

10. SECURITY

Since the Extension does not transmit personal data to any server, the primary security boundary is your own device. Settings data is stored using Chrome's native local storage, which is sandboxed per extension and inaccessible to other extensions or web pages. We recommend keeping Chrome and the Extension up to date to benefit from the latest security patches.

11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since the Extension does not collect any personal data from any user, no special measures are required. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Extension, please contact us immediately.

12. YOUR RIGHTS & DATA CONTROL

You have full control over your locally stored data at all times. You can:

  • Enable "Offline Mode" in the extension's Settings page to keep all data local and disable all remote features
  • Disable "Allow Remote Control" to prevent data transmission to remote servers
  • Use "Reset All Data" in the extension's Settings page to delete all stored data
  • Delete all stored settings by uninstalling the Extension
  • Clear extension storage via Chrome Settings → Extensions → Browser Audio Mixer → Details → Clear Data

Because no personal data is transmitted to or stored by the developer, there is no data held remotely that can be requested, corrected, or erased on your behalf.

13. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will notify users via the Extension's Chrome Web Store listing or update notes. Continued use of the Extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.

14. CONTACT

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the data practices of the Extension, please contact us through the contact form on this site.
